Description Welcome summer with a Summer Solstice presentation of string instrument and choral music. This FREE concert is part of the Verdugo Young Musicians Association (VYMA) Music Project at Longfellow Elementary School, which was launched September 2009 as an after-school music education program. In partnership with Pasadena LEARNS, the program provides free instruments and classical musical instruction to students in grades 1 to 6. The performance includes choir, orchestra, chamber ensemble and Kindergartners demonstration as a musical bonus. The project is inspired by El Sistema, the successful Venezuelan music education model that produced LA Philharmonic Music Director Gustavo Dudamel. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. A fund-raising bake sale will be on site.
