Tamales a great Tradition

Who doesn't love a great tamale! It's a fantastic tradition that has lasted throughout generations.

There are many different types of tamales from the popular Red Chile and pork, Green Chile with cheese and the delicious sweet tamales. The varieties differ from region to region but in the end a tamale at Christmastime and the days following is a necessity in our family.

I try to make tamales every year, but it's a time consuming task, so for the last 3 years we opted to taste the tamales of others, but there is nothing like a homemade tamale. Ok, I know they are all homemade, but from your hands, your sweat and your first pick off the top is an indescribable accomplishment and boy does it taste GREAT!

So instead of giving you step by step here are a few sites to check out:

http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/tamales.htm

Check them out, give a try and let me know how it goes! The number one tip is to make sure you don't put too much lard in the masa - it gives you a dry tamale. Other then that experiment with flavors and fillings and above all ENJOY!

Holiday Decor

Entertaining for the holidays can be a daunting task, but in reality it doesn't need to be.

Think Simple - A centerpiece of a glass jar or vase with cranberries, lemons, oranges in water with a little broken off Christmas tree branch to use as a base makes a cheap yet beautiful display.

White Christmas lights with garland splashed around the room and a scented candle or pine cones bring that Christmas spirit and smell without turning on your oven.

And while gifts are a nice gesture, make a card or bake some goodies - it's not always the cost of the item that counts.

Wishing Christmas Blessings this Holiday Season!

Welcome

So all the rave now-a-days is blogging....who knew that writing a diary would become popular again.

I remember as child, pre-teen and even teenager writing in my little diary with the lock and key, wishing, hoping and dreaming.....we grow up and forget how good it feels to get our thoughts out on paper. Ok, so today we get our thoughts out on the computer for the whole world to read, but they are still our thoughts!

My goal for this blog is the help people with their entertaining needs, and if I get a job here or there in the process I'll be happy!

Our business name is Agaperabba Entertainment. What the heck does that mean??? Well, a few years ago I did a search on our business name and low and behold the meaning was online http://www.aboutus.org/AGaperAbba.com . Of course they got that directly off our website, but I thought it was pretty cool to have an official (well semi-official) site have us listed.

By the way it's actually Agape R Abba broken down, but they tried.

We'll get into more about my husband and I, our skills, experience and entertaining today at later date.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I'm going to enjoy writing it!

First tip: Don't try to out do the Jones' If you entertaining the holiday season, keep it simple and fun. People will remember a party because of the company, not because you spent $1000 on flowers.

Thanks for reading along and have a blessed day!
