How to hire Birthday Party Entertainment

How to hire Birthday Party Entertainment

Introduction:
Don't stress out over hiring a birthday party entertainer. These tips will help you make an educated choice.

Step One- Finding the right entertainer:
There are several methods to finding the right entertainer to perform at your child's next birthday party:
• Yellow Pages Look under Entertainers/Entertainment, or Family Entertainment. If you prefer you could get specific and look under clown, or puppeteer or magician to expand your options. If you can not find any, try looking in the phone directory of the next largest town or city nearest your location.
• Cake Decorators – Party Rentals Entertainers often work closely with these kinds of industry related businesses and usually have a good reputation if they do, especially if the company is referring the entertainer.
• Internet Search Engine Save time and sanity by typing in specific searches. include your city in the search or the nearest big city along with birthday party entertainer or clown or magician or whatever kinds of entertainment you are looking for.

Step Two- Talking to your potential entertainers
Things You Should Ask:
• Experience level. Find out if performs basic, intermediate or specialty skills.
• How long has this entertainer been performing? Is he a kid himself, and therefore just beginning, or is he older with more experience? Keep in mind age does not mean better if older.
• What kind of an audience does he/she mostly perform? Does this entertainer frequently perform for children? What is his specialty? What is the one point of interest in the show that sets him apart from the competition? Is it personality, show contents, set up, experience, references, a combination?
• Content What kind of skills does the entertainer perform during the show? If clown, then magic? animal balloon twisting art? face painting? general merriment? games? perhaps a combination of all? How many children can be accommodated and what time is recommended to perform the services you are interested for the number of children you will have attend? If magician, Audience participation? Animal tricks? Cards tricks? Children love to be included, so ask your entertainer exactly how much audience participation is involved in his act. How long does his act usually run? Anything longer than 35-40 minutes is too long for most children's attention spans if you want only a show. Consider 1 hour to 2 hours to include the other goodies already mentioned to run smoothly for about 12 children. Remember time, features of show, and number of children should run smoothly for a successful party.
• References Who has this person previously worked for? Does he have any letters of recommendation? Anybody that you could call or email to inquire about their opinion of his act?
• Cost This will vary often with a performer's experience level. A person just starting out will charge less than a seasoned professional. In many larger cities, there are more entertainers to choose from and the rates may be more consistent. Some areas have heavy traffic especially on weekends. Some entertainers may charge more to go through these areas to get to your party due to needing leave much earlier than normal travel areas. If your party is at a park and the park charges an entrance fee, you should let the entertainer know this in advance to be financially prepared. Then reimburse the entertainer on arrival.

Step Three -Confirm Your Date:
When you have chosen the right entertainer for your event, make sure to get the Agreement in writing either by fax or email for promptness. You should look over the agreement to guarantee there are no errors or misunderstandings. You should expect to pay a small fee in advance to guarantee your desired date and time for the party. These days, most "real" business accept most major credit cards by phone or web. Your balance minus the advance pay could be asked for in cash on arrival or due within a week prior to your event by charging the remaining balance to your credit card. Print our your Confirmed Agreement and have handy on day of event. Keep the entertainers contact information handy and it would event be a good idea to enter the entertainers phone number on the cell phone with an assigned speed dial number for just in case you need to contact them on the day of the event.
